Division Road x Easymoc - Rangeley

Division Road x Easymoc Rangeley Boot in Mole Suede and Tiger Stripe: $695

If you ever wondered what would happen if you crossed a jungle boot with a Maine guide boot, now you know. The result is surprisingly effective in part thanks to the deadstock 70s tiger stripe cloth that makes an appearance on the shaft and tongue. All that is combined with a Vibram Gloxi-Cut outsole, arguably the most aggressive of the wedges (we see you too, Ripple!).

Division Road x Easymoc - Horse Bit - Tiger Stripe

Divison Road x Easymoc Horse Bit in Tiger Stripe: $325

If you want to go all out, there’s also a horse bit version of Easymoc’s camp moc model clicked (it may still actually “click”, we don’t know!) from the same tiger stripe canvas and backed with leather for durability. The sole and snaffle are blacked out so as not to give you away—try to avoid losing these!

Viberg - Service Boot 2030 - Muschio Horsebutt

Viberg Service Boot 2030 in Muschio Horsebutt: $1,160

Pretty darn classic Viberg stuff right here. The Canadian maker’s famed 2030 last in veg tan horsebutt from Maryam. The soles are Dainite, with eight AA eyelets (Viberg’s intermediate size), and double row stitchdown construction.

Viberg - 145 Oxford - Naturale Horsebutt

Viberg 145 Oxford in Naturale Horsebutt: $950

Better still, there are 145s as well, in not one but two shades of horsebutt, natural(e)…

Viberg - 145 Oxford - Muschio Horsebutt

Viberg 145 Oxford in Muschio Horsebutt: $950

…and Muschio, both built out on the round toed 1035 last with a Vibram 2021 wedge.

White's - 350LTT-CS - Sand Boarhide

White’s 350LTT-CS in Sand Boar: $720

In the perpetual fight against climbing wait times, bootmakers are constantly looking for ways to batch production and streamline operations. White’s limited run models have proven to be a particularly effective way to do just that—they get a more efficient line, you get ready to ship boot in cool leathers like this boarhide, and (this time) with White’s famed handsewn rolled-welt stitchdown construction as well.

The boarhide is an older tannage from Milwaukee’s always boundary-pushing Gallun Leathers, although it’s to be noted that this article is an early Gallun boar iteration from about three years ago. The two most recent models both use the 350-CS platform, meaning they utilize the 55 last built out with a linesman’s shank underneath the midsole, allowing the Vibram 2021 wedge to adhere to the high arch last. Suffice it to say this just about as much arch as you can possible squeeze out of a wedge sole. Available in a lace-to-toe…

White's - 350-CS - Brown Boarhide

White’s 350-CS in Brown Boar: $720

…or derby boot quarter pattern, with both options available in your choice of sand (shown on the LTT), brown (shown here), or copper boarhide.

White's - 55 Smokejumper - Brown Distress

White’s #55 Smoke Jumper in Distress Roughout: $960

East West also has one of their long-running White’s models (briefly) back in stock, a 6″ boot on the 55 last built out in Brown Distress leather with a Vibram 430 mini lug and handsewn stitchdown construction. Boots don’t get much bootier than these.

Nicks Boots - Strider

Nicks Boots Strider Zero-Drop Work Boots: $495

Nicks just released their first-ever “zero-drop” work boot, and we’ve got all sorts of coverage on it right here.

Buzz Rickson's - M43 - Camel Roughout

Buzz Rickson’s M-43 Service Shoe in Camel Roughout: $700

If you ever find yourself on Berlin’s Rosa Luxemburg Street, it’s worth stopping in at Burg & Schild (“castle and shield”, not “Burgund’s Child”). In addition to plenty of selvedge denim, leather jackets, and the like, they also stock and impressive array of American and Japanese boots—including these boondockers from Buzz Rickson’s. The camel roughout has a tight nap and a warmer cast than chromexcel takes on the M43, and it’s combined with a 270˚ flat welt and a reproduction rubber outsole and heel.

Russell Moccasin - Sporting Clays Chukka - Brown Bison

Russell Moccasin Premier Build Sporting Clays Chukka: $715 (Made to Order)

Russell’s Premier Build line of made to order boots has grown to the point that you can get just about any classic Russell model with your choice of upper and sole. The latest model to join its ranks is the Sporting Clays Chukka, available in two colorways each of Timberjack, Chamois, and Bison. Even with the lighter, single vamp construction, these still sit comfortably in the gray are between shoe and boot.

Attractions - Cowboy - Black

Attractions Cowboy Boots in Black: $1,045

These Attractions cowboys definitely belong in the ‘strange’ department at S&S—they’re uh…not exactly cowboy boots!—but they’re yet more proof that few other brands are as comfortable doing outside-the-box takes on vintage patterns. Somewhere between an engineer and a roper, the boots feature a low block heel and are built with a 270˚ flat welt on the round-toed but dressy Jubilee last. The thin, solitary buckle is supposedly made of beryllium, an ultra-strong, ultra-light metal typically used in rocket engines and nuclear reactors (not kidding). Available in black…

Brick + Mortar x Alden - Vashon Indy Handsewn - Color 8 Shell

Brick + Mortar x Alden “Vashon” in Color 8 Shell: $995

A chunky Horween shell cordovan derby with a handsewn apron and Trubalance-level comfort is pretty much always a winning combo around here, and if you’re thinking (after reading the header) “that sounds like the ‘Vashon” makeup”, you’d be right. Built with a 270˚ storm welt and commando half soles.

Brogue x Alden - Lynch - Black Calf

Brogue x Alden Lynch Blucher in Black Calf: $720

If you need the proof of how important lasts are, here it is: Brogue’s “Lynch” makeup has all the hallmarks of an Indy shoe, right down to the nitrile cork outsole and apron, but the leaner, straighter 379x military last makes them into something else all together. Everything is blacked out here, from the calf uppers to the 270˚ flat welt and the sole.

Leffot x Alden - Leisure Handsewn - Clay Nubuck

Leffot x Alden Penny Loafer in Clay Nubuck: $692

Leffot released their take on two-tone this week, with a Leisure Handsewn model on the Van last in clay nubuck, with a 360˚ flat welt and single leather soles. There’s something gloriously racoon-like going on here.

Oak Street - Shearling Camp Boot - Natural Chromexcel

Oak Street Bootmakers Shearling Camp Boot in Natural Chromexcel: $468

Winter isn’t quite over yet, and that means depending on where you live you might still be looking to humble your thinsulate-shod neighbors. If that’s the case, Oak Street has a limited edition camp boot lined in shearling. The uppers are natural…
